ABSORPTION REFRIGERATION EFFICIENCY

30/3/11 Jantar Mantar - Instruments of Observations. An astronomical observatory built 250 years ago to correct the calender and to predict the solstices and equinox's as well as a host of other things. Amazing garden with these weird things built all over, the tall structure in the photo is about 70 feet high and measures all sorts from sun and moon observations. Went there in the eve and met a nice old man who showed me round and told me about it saying he didnt want any money, his dad met Stephen Hawkins at this place and got in the papers all over India. Lovely evening wandering about with a guide, as he said goodbye he mentioned people sometimes like to give him money for his troubles so I offered him 20 Rupees (30p) he said they usually give 100, we settled on 50 - such is the Indian way of free stuff.
Spent the day with the special needs kids again, which recharges the batteries and they are just the best kids to be around - well behaved, willing, interested and wanting. Despite any disabilty they just get on with it, help each other, look after each other and accept me straight into their world. We did English in morning then in afternoon face-painted them as animals and did a performance of the Tiger and the Rabbit. They were brilliant. Then we danced and half of them want me to hold their hands and dance round with them, especially a little, very very cute mute girl called Neha. One of the helpers said she has never uttered a sound or tried to speak. Today I heard her make 2 little sounds and then she was plainly trying to copy the way my mouth formed words - might have been mistaken but I don't think so. It was a moment! She went off to her village today so we won't meet again.
Tonight India won the cricket world cup semi-final against arch rivals Pakistan. The city went wild, we went up on the roof to see, there was half an hour of fireworks, firecrackers, yelling, beeping, shouting and general mayhem all over the city for as far as we could see. Brilliant. Looks like Saturday, when the final is on, will be incredible if India win. Lets hope so.
Some of the hostel mates are really getting me down - anything thats left in fridge or cupboard goes missing including my dinner tonight! Had cereal instead. I would like to move. I live with yoofs. My bank card failed to work in 2 machines tonight. Its the 1st time I have tried to use it. Oh! Not the end to a perfect day I would have liked.
Tomorrow is another day. I miss people. I'm fine.

For Christmas I got a tripod, which means I can experiment with my photography alot more.

So, I came up with the crazy idea to go outside in -20C winter weather and take photos with a theme of "The Canadian Beer Fridge". After half an hour of experimenting, this is the best photo that came out of the project. Kind of sucks as my hands are now all dry, red and sore from being outdoors for over half an hour!

So from the half an hour of being outside, the Canadian beer fridge proved to be the ultimate beer fridge! It quickly cooled all these beers in the duration of the shoot.

So, what do you think of the photo? I hope it turned out fine as nobody should ever have to volunteeringly be outside for half an hour JUST to take photos, its just too cold! Especially without a toque and mitts!
